Ieri 15 febbraio il gatto Larry ha festeggiato dieci anni di servizio come cacciatore di topi o meglio come Chief Mouser, "l'acchiappatopi", presso la sede del primo ministro britannico al numero 10 di Downing Street.
Era il 15 febbraio 2011 quando Larry, che viveva dal rifugio per cani e gatti Battersea Dogs and Cats, fu adottato dalla famiglia dell'allora Primo Ministro David Cameron. Da allora ha cacciato un topo, alcuni piccioni,
ma ha anche rischiato di essere licenziato perché di fronte ad un topo notato da David Cameron nel suo studio non ha fatto nulla (così è stato soprannominato dalla stampa Pigro Larry), ha litigato con la gatta Freya con cui ha condiviso il ruolo di Chief Mouser da settembre 2012 a novembre 2014,
ha visto succedere altri due premier Theresa May e Boris Johnson, si è lasciato accarezzare dall’ex presidente degli Stati Uniti Barack Obama mentre in presenza di Donald Trump è fuggito sotto la sua limousine presidenziale (anche i gatti non amano Trump! 🤣). Oggi è considerato il felino più famoso d'Inghilterra.
